For the latest installment of The Settlers series, I had the great opportunity to get my hands on the initial phase of the sound design. Particularly finding the specific style that would fit the balance between cartoonish or realistic appearance of the game world. Also I got to experiment on the first draft of the UI sounds. This is always a very delicate task in terms of finding sounds which are logical, yet subtle enough to not distract from the gaming experience.
